Title: Renovating a club isn't enough
Review: My partner and I went to the Flame last night, our first time since it reopened. We weren't impressed at all. My partner is British and the bouncer made a big hoopla that her drivers license couldn't be accepted because it wasn't American. I said to her so if you went to London to go clubbing they shouldn't let you in either? Of course she said they should because being American means having the privilege of going anywhere you damn well please. Anyways, we got in after the other bouncer said she was crazy and of course a foreign drivers license is ok. The music was just rap...rap, rap, rap the WHOLE NIGHT! There's only so much of it you can dance to. What about club music? Dance music? House music? Anything but rap. No one started dancing until 11:30pm and only because they were too wasted to care what they were dancing to. I thought it was mainly for lesbians but realized quickly that it was basically a straight club with a lot of women in it. Men and women grinding on the dance floor, women humping everything in sight...man take it home for f*ck sake! My partner and I are going to the male gay clubs next time. At least they play better music and know how to dance and have a good time. There's a reason why there are only 2 lesbian clubs in San Diego, because lesbians don't go out as much as gay men. But if I wanted to go to a straight club I would have done that instead of head to the Flame. I don't think I'll be going to the Flame any time soon.
